Resources for Families and Congregations Affected by COVID-19
We hope the information at our new COVID-19 Resources page will be helpful to you. Please note that we will do our best to keep information updated as frequently as possible, but we encourage you to look to your local/state health departments and governments first as they will have the most recent information available. (This new web page is in progress and will be updated as information is available.)
Given the new restrictions on gatherings of more than ten people, viewing church services online can be a great resource to continue to stay connected to God's Word while your family is at home.
Main Street Living is a Lutheran Television program that is endorsed by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. The broadcast has two parts. Remastered episodes of the Emmy award-winning Lutheran Hour Ministries “This is the Life” program were originally aired from the 1950’s to the 1980’s. This program has been re-mastered to the modern format. The Worship Service is produced locally and features a different presenter each week selected from the Pastors in each broadcast area. To view the program produced for our area, go to https://www.mainstreetliving.com/lincoln .
Priscilla's and LWML: The Priscilla's are part of the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League). Since the beginnings of the LWML, women have gathered "mites" for the work of God's mission of taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ into the world. The mites are used with mission projects and to support missionaries throughout the country and world. The Priscilla's is our local LWML group. In addition to the gathering of mites, they also support a seminary student, purchase the Portals of Prayer devotions and we give the 5th graders a Bible for use in Confirmation classes. They purchase flowers that are used to decorate the sanctuary at Christmas and Easter. They serve for funerals, blood mobile and for farm & estate sales for members of the congregation. They have a Bible Study at each meeting and invite all the ladies of the congregation to learn more about the work of the Priscilla's and the LWML.
* Do you shop on Amazon.com? Would you like to give FREE money to St. John's Lutheran Preschool? Amazon has a program that gives 5% of your purchase to the charity of your choice. Due to the marketing restrictions under the program, we are only able to advertise the specific program via electronic means. It is VERY easy (and simple) to do! Information about it can also be found on St. John's Facebook page. Thank you!
* The Lativian Orphanage that we have adopted is being supported by individual contributions from members of St. John's (although we won't stop others from contributing, too!). Therefore, those who want to help support our adopted children should mark- somewhere on their offering- that their money is specifically designated for the Latvian orphanage.
* Voters' Meetings are held the first month of each quarter (January, April, July, October). Boards and Committees are to meet independently- at minimum- the second month of each quarter. Church Council Meetings will be held the third month of each quarter (March, June, September, December).
* St. John's is always looking to add members to its prayer chain! If you would like to be part of
this godly ministry, please contact the church office.
